  • ½ cup of rice
  • 2 cups of orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • Saffron threads

Orange saffron rice Elaboration

First squeeze the oranges, the amount of juice obtained will be sufficient for 2 cups, logically the orange juice will be suitable. Add the juice into a saucepan together with the orange peel which has been cut into strips and place the saucepan onto high heat and heat until it boils.

Bring to a boil, then add the rice and when brought to a boil once again, reduce heat and simmer until the rice is cooked and the orange juice absorbed for approximately 13 minutes. This time can vary depending on whether one likes the rice whole or tender.

Once the rice is cooked for the specified minutes, add the tablespoons of sugar and strands of saffron and leave to simmer for a further 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, turn the heat off and allow the remaining broth to thicken until it obtains a sweet honeyed texture.
